Students of Science
Founded in the spring of 2007, the Students of Science are an experimental breakbeat ensemble comprised of LeRoy Brown (Research Deluxe) and Lee Ritter. The two met the previous fall when LeRoy, an accomplished DJ, producer and arranger moved from his home in Rochester, NY to work as an audio engineer at an Orlando, FL based educational media company. There he met Lee, a guitarist/multi-instrumentalist from Vermont, who was working as a guitar instructor. Through their work the two struck an immediate rapport based on shared musical interests and the love for musical experimentation.
With their diverse backgrounds, musical tastes and experience, the two formed what can best be described as a research and development team. With strong roots in funk, jazz, hip-hop, and a commitment to constant development through sound manipulation, the Students of Science promise to deliver their experimental sound and heavy grooves for the foreseeable future.
